FAQs

IS YOUR SOAP MOISTURIZING?
Soap's primary function is to clean, they aren't specifically made to moisturize.
However, we allow a significant amount of oils to remain in the finished soap product so that they won't dry your skin out in the process of cleaning.
Everyone's skin reacts differently to the fragrances and other ingredients in soap so it's hard to make a blanket statement here. Some people's skin dries out when their skin comes in contact with certain ingredients in soap such as citrus for example so what might be a moisturizing orange blossom soap to one person, might be too drying for someone else.
With all that being said, we do leave what we consider to be a high but safe amount of unsaponified oil in the finished product for moisturizing purposes.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEA SALT SOAP AND YOUR CLASSICS?
Our Classic Soaps are made from a recipe created in line with traditional handmade soaps.
Our Sea Salt Soaps, however, are made following our original formula - the result of a solid year of experimenting with the delicate balance of oils, temperature, and timing, while adjusting different amounts of sea salt to make a mineral-rich bar of soap that won't fall apart. These bars are difficult to make!
The minerals in the sea salt help the skin absorb the moisturizing glycerin that is a byproduct of handmade soap. The salt is also a natural preservative, so we can use heavier and higher quantities of oils in the recipe
These unique soaps rinse clean, even off the shower walls, and don't need a soap dish to drain as they stay firm without going mushy, making Sea Salt Soaps the ideal shower soap. It's our proprietary recipe that makes Sea Salt Soaps so unique. The addition of salt in the soap reduces the amount of lather, they have a lotion-like lather rather than an instant bubbly lather that is generally preferred for a quick hand wash at the sink. For hand soaps, you're better off looking to our Classic Soaps.
HOW LONG DOES SEA SALT SOAP LAST?
To quote Mr. Mason at the Hanalei Market, "It depends on how frequently you pursue bathing!". Two people sharing a bar of soap, each showering twice a day, lasts approximately three weeks. You can work out your own math.
HOW LONG DOES THE SCENT LAST?
The scents in our variety of soaps vary greatly. The soaps scented with fragrance oils seem to last longer than our soaps made with essential oils, with citrus essential oil scents fading quickest. Conservatively speaking, for the strongest scent in the shower, use within 6-9 months, although many people stock up and use our soaps long after purchasing them without any complaints.
WHERE ARE THEY MADE?
Our soaps are currently made in California.
